Providing accurate and transparent information to our customers is the cornerstone of our business. The rating options below indicate the degree of protection that a safe will provide in the event of an attempted break-in. To receive a performance rating, the safe must be built to a specific construction standard and be independently tested by attempted break-in to make sure it meets such standards. Not all safes are performance rated. They may be constructed above UL Standards. MERIK provides the following options:
Option #1: U.L. RSC Rated Safes. MERIK Safes are built to exceed U.L. (Underwriters Laboratories) RSC (Residential Security Container) Standards. To achieve a U.L. RSC Rating - The Safe Door must successfully resist attack for a net working time of five (5) minutes when attacked by rigorous prying, drilling, punching, chiseling, and tampering attacks by U.L. technicians. Estimated INSURABLE contents value*: With an alarm system: up to $10,000; Without an alarm system: up to $5,000
Option #2: U.L. TL-30 Rated - High-Security Safes. To achieve a TL-30 Rating - The "Safe Door" must successfully resist attack using common mechanical and electrical hand tools, carbide drills and pressure applying devices or mechanisms and any combination of these means, for a net working time of 30 minutes. Estimated INSURABLE contents value*: With an alarm system: up to $375,000; Without an alarm system: up to $195,000
To achieve a TL-30x6 Rating - The "Safe Door and all 6 Sides of the Body" must successfully resist attack using common mechanical and electrical hand tools, carbide drills and pressure applying devices or mechanisms and any combination of these means, for a net working time of 30 minutes. Estimated INSURABLE contents value*: With an alarm system: up to $500,000; Without an alarm system: up to $275,000
*SPECIAL NOTE: You should always ask your insurance broker for guidance on insurable contents value and insurability, and for recommendations that may result in reductions in your insurance premiums by having a U.L. (Underwriters Laboratories) Listed Safe such as a TL-30 Rated Safe or a TL-30x6 Rated Safe. Insurable Contents Value may vary by insurance company or carrier. The Total Insurable Contents Value is the estimated value of the contents (property) stored within a safe covered in an insurance policy. It is the maximum dollar amount that an insurance company will pay out if an asset(s) that the insurance company has insured is deemed lost due to theft or fire.
