The first point of attack for any safe is almost always the safe’s door and/or walls. A thick steel door and five thick steel walls are the actual and real means of preventing a determined criminal from gaining entrance into the safe with the use of crowbars, sledgehammers and other common prying tools. Wall and Door thickness should always be your number one concern when deciding on any safe. Learn more...
We recommend you spend some time doing research prior to purchasing your safe. We take great pride in producing some of the toughest safes in the industry, for each of our models. We challenge you to find products that compare… feature to feature, size, door and wall steel thickness, fire protection, construction and most of all value.
Our gun safes are layered with a fireboard that is very similar in composition to drywall. The fireboard, acting as an insulator, can be from ¼ to 5/8 inch in thickness. Encased within the fireboard is a low level of moisture. The moisture is released when the safe is heated in a fire. This process allows the interior of the gun safe to remain cooler for an extended time period. The more layers of fireboard, the longer the gun safe will stay cooler and protect the contents from heat and fire. It should be noted that the typical home fire ranges from 800 to 1200 degrees F. Varied safe contents are found to be more susceptible to heat than others. Paper valuables such as documents and currency will begin to discolor at approximately 350 degrees F and scorch at approximately 410 degrees F. Plastics materials encasing rare coins may actually be more susceptible than papers. Guns and rifles , of course, will withstand heat for slightly longer time periods. Most normal home fires are either under control or extinguished within 20 to 30 minutes. Also note that more steel is better. It is the number one defense for preventing a successful prying attack. The safe’s door and walls are the best line of defense for a prying attack. We encourage you to stay within your budget, but be cognizant of the type and estimated value of the contents you will be protecting. When in doubt feel free to contact us for more information.
